Leader of GOP convention resigns after Myanmar ties reported

The coordinator of the GOP convention resigns after Newsweek report on his firm’s ties to Myanmar junta (o boy!).  Doug Goodyear picked by the John McCain campaign to head the 2008 Republican National Convention resigned Saturday when Newsweek reported online that his lobbying firm, DCI Group, used to represent the Myanmar junta (can you believe?).  Well, at least they caught this before the convention.  Only remaining question is why is McCain’s campaign using a lobbyist of the 527 kind when that’s one of the things McCain has been denouncing for years in his battle for campaign finance reform?  What is wrong with this picture?  Someone didn’t have their Thinking cap on.

Vice Adm. Stufflebeem gives false official statement - should cost him his job & rank stripped

Fair & balanced reporting by Chris Amos, Navy Times

What’s regrettable about the story of Vice Adm. John Stufflebeem’s fall from grace is that after he was caught lying be began a campaign to discredit the woman he had the affair with indicating that she was lying. He further tightened the noose by replying with a false (official) statement that he “would not knowingly give false or misleading testimony, as it would run counter to the primary ethical value and character by which I have lived throughout my career as a Naval Officer.”

The arrogance and audacity of Stufflebeem’s rebuttal to the truth is astonishing for such a professional man although not uncommon for the New Moral Man found lying through his teeth.  It’s the audacity at which these fallen men (and women where appropriate) think they can deflect blame onto someone else other than themselves that’s so galling.

This flaw in the New Moral Man is something to be reckoned with, the least of which is making them accountable for their actions by firing them. Then it’s up to the moral and religious leaders to tackle this problem head-on in the public forum along with condemnation of unethical behavior as a whole. The next step is to address unethical behavior in the school system and in the home - starting with the parents.

How else are we to address this national problem?

Another Illustrious Leader caught doing wrong - Rep. Vito Fossella (R-NY)

Republicans - Pride before the fall

Is it just me or does it seem like every week another Illustrious Leader is caught doing something wrong?  These are our role models, folks.  Top down morality brought to you by top hypocrites.  Tonight, Republican Rep. Vito J.  Fossella’s secret love-child was revealed; this, after being stopped last week for drunken-driving arrest.   Here he is, a married man, father of 3 children, who now has to explain to his children the shame he’s brought upon them.  Mind you, he just declares “My personal failings and imperfections have caused enormous pain to the people I love and I am truly sorry,” and goes about his world - impervious to the absolute devastation he’s caused those he purports to “love” - those loved ones who live in the fishbowl of political arena - and absorb the brunt of any parental wrong-doing under the public eye.  What man would do this to his own children?  Is this the kind of man you want representing your best interests?  I’m sorry to have to rock your world with my angst bellow but isn’t it time we clean house and get rid of those who sully American values?   O, by the way, did I say he was Republican? (/rant)

Once-secret memos once-again show Clinton’s untruthiness

Once again, long after their usefulness, documents suddenly appear and “the truth will out.” Democrat Sam Dash who served as ethics adviser to Whitewater Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr, donated, upon his death in 2004, his documents from the Whitewater investigation to the Library of Congress. And guess what? These documents spell out the untruthiness of our presidential candidate - SURPRISE!!!

Many of us who followed the whole excruciating Whitewater investigation could point out inconsistencies, question the convenience of lost documents and billing records (of which were “found” in the White House 2 years after the investigation), and her denial in having had anything to do with the failed Madison project known as Castle Grande. BZZZT! Wrong. Of course she did. Funny how putting several documents together regarding several key players of this “what? Another cover-up?” foolishness might find ya. And may I just remind people that Independent Counsel Robert W. Ray, who took the reins from Starr, said at the end of his investigation that he chose not to indict as was his prerogerative. He said at the time there was reason to press charges for lying under oath. You chose to go into denial. And all the players scurried to bury this story and exalt the Clintons. For shame. Makes ya want to scream. :O

Ohio A.G. says ‘forget it’ to resignation request by Governor

A.G. Marc Dann rolls up his sleaze to get back to work…
[The way things have been going these days, the A.G. will probably captcha a Metal of Honor, the victim offs herself, and the A.G. goes back to sniffing chair seats.]

First of all, what’s up with this crap? Why do elected officials refuse to step down when they’re caught doing wrong? A.G. Marc Dann, when asked to resign by the Governor replied, “I am in the office, have rolled up my sleeves and am working on behalf of the people of State of Ohio. Our work is too important to do anything but our jobs today.”

Oh yeah? How about carrying out the duties of your office with professionalism, honesty and dignity? Oh, that’s right. It’s already been shown that you can’t manage that - by your repulsive behavior. Nothing is more important than your state to insist on integrity and behavior beyond reproach. Did it ever dawn on you, A.G., that people vote for elected officials with the idea in mind that their candidate represents their best choice (from a barrel of oinkers) given available facts? Now, the fact that a lot of Illustrious Leaders keep their dirty secrets from fresh air and disinfection by sunshine only means that if the People catch you doing something they don’t approve of, they expect you to blush with shame and then l.e.a.v.e. so someone with more professional behavior and moral integrity can replace you. What is so hard to understand about this expectation from the People you signed up to serve??

I’m waiting..

UPDATE:  Attorney General March Dann resigns.

Pilot of passenger jet terrifies 143 with steep 10K ft climb

An Air France pilot terrified 143 passengers while allegedly showing a boy in the cockpit  (thought this was a no-no post-9/11)  how to roll plane side-to-side, then needs to climb 10,000 ft to miss hitting oncoming plane.

If this story is proven to be true, then this is another example of how people, professional no less, have stopped using their minds and have let the amoeba in them take over, truly.

U.S. defense contractors use Cayman Island tax shelter

Cayman Island tax haven for U.S. defense contractor - SURPRISE !!

Today’s AP IMPACT article on the defense contractor (Combat Support Associates a.k.a. Close Brothers*) using the Cayman Island as a tax haven is shocking, shocking I tell you, for no one except Congress!  This “news” is almost insulting to the average AmeriCAN Think who’s been following this story from the beginning - getting the news from AmeriCAN bloggers, whooyah!  As far as I’m concerned, the Mock Media has fallen down on the job.  Fallen, yes fallen, from their previous esteemed position as the watchdogs for AmeriCANs shining the light on government crime and corruption.

P.S.  I wonder when the Mock Media will come around to exposing the anti-trust laws of our land.  Or have they been null & voided by the congrevoids as well?!

*Close Brothers = ‘We are a cabal of insiders who don’t support AmeriCANs’, ‘Politicians who stand to gain from untaxed biznesses’, ‘Corporate thieves stiffing AmeriCANs’, or ‘Band of top echelon officials who gain monetarily from war’???  Which is it???

This much I can tell you - Band of Brothers - they are.  NOT!  Bandaids, maybe.  *snort*

Heparin drug debacle

Egads!  C-SPAN ran a program today on the House Committee Oversight on Foreign Drug Inspection Program.   The Food and Drug Administration acknowledges the 81 people who have died after allergic reactions to the drug since January 2007.  Dr. Janet Woodcock, Director of the FDA, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, said that with outsourcing drug production to other countries such as India and China, the FDA is not currently configured to regulate global markets.   Further,  FDA’s inspection coverage is underfunded.  Some  company’s are inspected every 30 years!  Okay.  What I want to know is what has the FDA been doing all these past years with the mother lode dollars we shovel out to them?   The FDA hasn’t been doing much in the USA, either.  So, what have they been doing? We have drugs coming into our country that we can’t inspect until it arrives on our shores.   There’s no oversight there either.  Everything seems to be run on the premise that if a company says they’re going to do something, we better trust them. In other words, we have signed agreements such as this so drugs can come in from other countries.  Why haven’t we told the source of this killer drug to take a long walk off a short pier, you might be asking?  Because, by the sound of it, these companies may cut off our supplies if we get all snooty with them.   Never mind making sure that foreign companies abide by our rules and standards before being able to export their drugs into our country, right?! ? No.  All these foreign drug companies have us over the barrel, my friend, because we let them dictate the rules.  How’s that for free trade agreements?   Too bad we don’t have Illustrious Leaders who insist on fair trade, huh?

Furthermore, you’d think our Illustrious Leaders would have oversight programs in place before going global.   You know, a plan. Even globalization was a half-assed endeavor by our *sniff* betters.

Daily dump

  • If Democratic presidential candidate Barak Obama really wants you to believe he’s outraged by Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s latest comments about him - and that the Rev is undermining his campaign - then Obama needs to step away from Trinity United Church of Christ. The charge from Obama that Rev. Wright’s opinions do not reflect the perspective of the black church begs the question “then why is he associated with it?” You will remember that one is judged by one’s associations.
  • Baxter’s CEO, Robert Parkinson, just came out today with the news that it’s believed their blood-thinner Heparin was deliberately contaminated. You will recall that the drug is being manufactured in Chi-nah - the same Chi-nah that was bent on killing our beloved fur-kids? When is Congress going to get serious about firing the head of FDA? He’s proven he can not run the department on a daily basis AND testify to Congress on the department’s inadequacy on a weekly basis! Check out FDA’s website for all the safety alerts and recalls. Just make sure you’ve already eaten.
  • Soldiers who need special waivers to get into the Army because they’re “loose canons” face court-martial more often. Gee, does that make sense? Bad behavior = court martial? (/sarcasm) BUT - they also get promoted more often than the good guys. Hmm.. does that make sense? DAMN STRAIGHT IT DOES!! You need these bad apples. Who else is willing to break our laws and carry out the damning no-no’s forbidden by Geneva Convention and other higher commissions on human rights? The Army’s New Thinking Apparatchik apparently thinks the lowest common denominator of squzzballs who have criminal records should serve our country - AND MAKE US PROUD OF OUR ARMY AGAIN! BTW, this information hasn’t been released to the public - you ought to send a thank-you note to AP who obtained a copy of this study. You should have gotten a clue about the direction the Army was taking with their lame-ass slogan ‘AN ARMY OF ONE’. I have this image of the “enemy” thinking they’re up against one dude, all decked out with the newest weaponry - a helicopter strapped to his back - heading in their general direction eager to jitzu them into the evening stew. Hey! Someone’s responsible for turning our young men into Arnie (sounds like Army..get it?) Terminators.

Telling it Like it IS

Via the Brad Blog:

This is an example of a cool-headed man who is not going to be cowed or intimated by a one-track reporter.  The man in the video above is a Catholic priest by the name of Rev. Michael Pfleger.

I guess Bill O’Reilly didn’t like what the good priest said in about 5 seconds into the video when he went into a 6 minute seg on whether the priest should be sanctioned by the Catholic Church.   Mercy!    Has O’Reilly lost touch with reality?

Why should a private corporation be given any say so in US policy!!????

One of the best speeches I’ve heard in my Life

News stew

  1. Ex-Gov of Alabama, Donald Siegelman, finally ordered released from prison pending appeal. If you’ve been following this case, you probably already believe something fishy is going on.
  2. Congress is going to investigate how the fledgling company of a 22-year old man with a licensed masseur as his vice president, won a $300M contract from the Pentagon to supply arms to our U.S. and Afghan troops in what appears to be a series of shady deals.  Read the story here.
  3. The same Sequoia AVC Advantage touch-screen systems which failed in NJ are going to be used for the Pennsylvania Primary in a few weeks.  Please go to BRAD BLOG  where Brad  Friedman is covering and reporting on election fraud to read about the man who’s in charge of finding out what went wrong with Sequoia’s voting machine failures.  Check out the before-and-after MySpace Profiles provided by Brad Blog for Mike Gibbons, head of the investigation.  For such an important investigation, one would think one’s going to get quality attributes from a man who highly-qualifies for the job.  Instead, we get a man who, according to his MySpace Profile, “is looking  for a well endowed blonde nymphomaniac (half my age or take the difference of her bustline and waistline added to her current age) that likes to be under the influence of Jim Beam whisky in a dimly lit room… .”  That’s all for now.  Don’t want to spoil it for you.  And just for fun, time how long you laffed and post it here in Comments.  [I laughed for about 45 seconds; then sobered with this thought:  is there no end to the sleaze-infested exposes on those who are screwing us over?!]
  4. Excellent article over on Alternet titled “Three Words Progressives Can Use to Win Elections” by Bernie Horn.  Lead-in reads: ‘Progressives have allowed right-wing extremists to hijack our ideals.  It’s time to right that wrong.”
  5. If being lied to is one of your pet peeves, you’re gonna love this article on Capitol Hill Blue’s website titled, “For Hillary, lying ain’t no big deal” by Doug Thomson.  He points out that all politicians lie, but his ending note is a zinger!

In the spirit of Sunshine Week 2008..

..I’m offering up some stories that I believe warrant “their day in court” and lots of “sunshine” on their cases in the hopes that those who wield power to make changes, make good, correct wrongs; those journalists and investigative reporters among us who choose to show courage in the face of stone-wall ridicule, and speak truth to power.  I offer you the chance to become familiar with the stories presented here and challenge you to walk the talk. Shall we proceed, then..

From Dr. J’s HouseCalls: Burned Citizen Journalism. From the blog:

“(B) In the matter of Dr. Mary Johnson v. Randolph Hospital, the facts have been ignored in deference to the continued well-being of people who control (or have “cooperative relationships” with others who control) large advertising budgets. Despite the new “momentum” for “ethics” and public/fiscal accountability in government and government-sponsored programs/institutions (i.e. “non-profits”), the N&R will not even have an “off-the-record” conversation to look at the evidence (in the form of public records and sworn court documents) . . . evidence that screams perjury, contempt and fraud. This story cannot be viewed through the prism of race, so the N&R doesn’t think the crimes committed are “relevant”. As for being “local”, the N&R says it covers Randolph County, but it hasn’t really been back to Asheboro since Jerry Bledsoe handed them their hat over the SCV debacle. We’re relegated to the High Point section now. And neither the patient nor the doctor caught up in this mess is JR’s daughter. So the N&R does not care that “non-profit” hospital officials, entrusted with the public good, betrayed the mission of a federal program, stabbed a physician & public servant in the back, called her a liar for telling the truth, and then lied under Oath to cover their tails & save some money when they tucked them. The N&R does not care that a local DA, abusing his discretion, can kill (before it starts) an independent SBI investigation of the “non-profit” hospital’s unfair business & legal tactics against a medical whistleblower & potential private-sector competitor. Once again, the whole truth does not matter. The REAL story doesn’t get told at all. Result: A good Pediatrician, with strong ties to Greensboro - recruited back to her hometown with federal money . . . a doctor forced one night to make a choice no physician should have to make . . . has been driven of her home out by community “leaders” who abused their power, repeatedly lied, and stuffed their own pockets on the public dime.” [Note: N&R is the Greensboro News & Record]

From REP. Jim Traficant - Can & Will blog:

“Exculpatory Evidence: Sworn Affidavit of Another Witness Pressured to Lie in the Case Against Congressman James Traficant of Ohio.

“Miscarriage of Justice Against Former Congressman James Traficant, Part 1. William Wallace, May, 2006.

A. Overview As a result of the Department of Justice’s (”DOJ”) flagrant and obvious program of lies, perjury and manufactured false “evidence” against former Congressman Jim Traficant (”Traficant”), many people have asked how they can help to correct this miscarriage of justice.

“The opportunity is now. The method includes the Internet and the national talk radio shows that expose government corruption, e.g., The Drudge Report, Michael Savage, Sean Hannity, G. Gordon Liddy, Oliver North and Greta Von Susteren at Fox News.

“Traficant stood for the people. He was a major threat to the shadow government which runs the DOJ and the Internal Revenue Service (”IRS”) and had to be discredited and taken out before his citizen friendly bills, which included an overhaul of the DOJ, could be passed.

“This report will be limited to prosecutorial misconduct to “bribe witnesses for testimony,” which under “treaty-standards” set by the Supreme Court in Missouri v. Holland, (1920) 252 US 416, rose to “acts of corruption” that violated the 1996 Inter-American Convention Against Corruption (”Corruption Convention”), 35 I.L.M. 724. This self-executing treaty bound all Federal officers, including prosecutors, to their terms. Executive Order (”E.O.”) 13107 commanded their compliance, as this treaty made the offering or accepting of “a thing of value for testimony” a crime under the anti-bribery and graft statutes. (See 18 U.S.C. 201(c)(2) to 224)

“The prosecutor, Assistant United States Attorney (”AUSA”) Craig Morford was proscribed from pressuring, intimidating and bribing witnesses for false testimony which also violated the obstruction of justice and witness-tampering statutes that served the Corruption Convention. (See 18 U.S.C. 1503, 1512)

“To support and prove Traficant’s allegations, he has audio tapes and affidavits available on almost all witnesses against him, all affirming they were coerced and intimidated to lie against him under extreme duress from the DOJ. Traficant demonstrated uncanny insight into preserving his evidence by placing it in the Congressional Record during the months of May, June, July and August 2002. It is waiting for investigators to dig out and prove this miscarriage of justice. “

New York Governor Spitzer should resign. NOW.

You rock the boat, baby! ;>

Another hypocrite! Another illegal wiretap?

“Mr. Spitzer gained national attention when he served as attorney general with his relentless pursuit of Wall Street wrongdoing. As attorney general, he also had prosecuted at least two prostitution rings as head of the state’s organized crime task force.

“In one such case in 2004, Mr. Spitzer spoke with revulsion and anger after announcing the arrest of 16 people for operating a high-end prostitution ring out of Staten Island.”

Read the USA Today article here.

Expect to see more falling by the way side now that we are operating under an open-season wiretapping dragnet.

One of the reason’s previous statesmen in our .government years ago forbad domestic wiretapping was to prevent blackmail and bribery. When an illegal wiretapping enterprise is allowed to continue, political and corporate officials who “rock the boat” are “caught” in these illegal dragnets and forced to resign. You could look at it as the .government about to restock its shelves. ;>

Ron Paul has NOT quit the Presidential Race!!!

The MSM wants you to believe Ron Paul has dropped out of the Presidential Race.  He has not!  It has taken on a different pace to include additional activities such as education and supporting other candidates.  Paul will continue to contest the remaining primaries.  His name will be on all the remaining state ballots.  Ron Paul has tentative plans to campaign in Pennsylvania and Kentucky and other states that have not had their primaries yet.Kentucky has just held precinct conventions and Ron Paul Republicans have won hundreds of precinct captains.

This is an attempt to paraphrase the latest news on the Daily Paul website.  Check it out here.

Crime pays for US prison companies

“Harsher sentencing policies have put more criminals behind bars and prison management firms such as the Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) and The GEO Group are racing to build new jails or expand existing facilities to house more convicted felons. [...]

“Advocacy groups say the “war on drugs” and changes in sentencing laws, not rising crime rates, explain America’s ballooning prison population. A majority of those locked up are racial and ethnic minorities. [...]“

~~~
The problem with the prison cottage industry is you got to fill the beds to make a profit. Too many people weren’t watching when the penal system decided to let states build private prisons. When you do that, the penal system has to make a profit. More beds lead to more money, but those beds got to be filled so the prison is always looking for more inmates. The only way you can get more inmates is to make more people criminals. We know this requires passing more laws so that anyone at anytime has broken at least one and can be whisked away to one of these dungeons. Now, thanks to post-9/11 draconian laws, you’re not allowed that one phone call or a lawyer if a LEO decides to label you a terrahist. Talk about a real crime!
Postal Service monitors thousands of letters without warrants
“The US postal service approves more than 10,000 requests from US law enforcement each year to record names, addresses and other information from the outside of packages, according to information released through a Freedom of Information Act request. The warrantless surveillance mail program — as it is known –requires only the approval of the US Postal Inspection Service Director, and not a judge.”
First Amendment suffers blow from 9-11 attacks
“The shadow of the Sept. 11 terror attacks is eclipsing press freedom and other constitutional safeguards in the United States, Associated Press President and CEO Tom Curley said Thursday.”
“What has become clear in the aftermath of 9/11 is how much expediency trumps safeguards,” Curley said during the annual dinner of the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation.
“Congress steps back from its constitutional role of executive oversight. Civilian oversight of the military wanes. A Justice Department interprets laws in ways that extend police powers. More drastically, prisons are established in places where government or military operatives circumvent due process or control trials,” Curley said in accepting the foundation’s First Amendment Leadership Award.
“It’s at moments like these when a free press matters most,” he said.”
“Also receiving First Amendment honors from the foundation Thursday were CBS News correspondent Bob Schieffer and NBC Universal vice president Paula Madison. A special award also recognized former Federal Communications Commission Chairman Richard Wiley.”
