Hats off to Starbucks‘ CEO Howard Schultz for email blasting fellow CEOs, asking corporate heads to boycott all political campaign donations until our “leaders” solve our debt and budget fiasco. Bloomberg quotes from the CEO’s e-mail to business leaders:
“I am asking that all of us forego political contributions until the Congress and the President return to Washington and deliver a fiscally disciplined long-term debt and deficit plan to the American people.“
It’s refreshing to see a thriving company live up to its mission statement; and a great line taken from Starbucks mission statement page:
‘The world is looking to Starbucks to set the new standard, yet again. We will lead.’
See, America! There is hope… someone who has clout is standing in the gap, for us! To all other business owners and corporate heads, this is an example of what it means to ‘man-up’ !
Thank you, Howard Schultz!
